Living A Creative Life

"You are an artist, creating your life portrait, and your paints and brush strokes are the choices that you make each day of your life."
-John Chaffee, PhD

"Creative minds always have been known to survive any kind of bad training."
-Anna Freud

"To invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk."
-Thomas Edison

"My life is dull, just the same old routines day after day. I'd love to be more creative, but who has time? It's all I can do to meet my responsibilities. I just don't see how I can add another thing to my life, even though becoming more creative sounds very appealing."
Sound familiar? You're not alone. Many people feel stuck in ruts, trapped in patterns they cannot break, stressed-out by the pressures of living, They yearn for the sparkle and spontaneity of a creative life, the opportunity to express their unique visions to others. How is it possible to live a creative life in these circumstances?

create your vision
Most people tend to see creativity as an "add-on," something extra that you have to find time for in your busy life. Instead, creativity is a better, richer, more productive approach to doing what you are already doing. It should be braided seamlessly into your life, not a bow that's added on for decoration. By learning to approach your life with a mindful sense of discovery and invention, you can continually create yourself in ways limited only by your imagination.
"There is a vitality, a life force an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost."

-- Martha Graham
